How long has the Communities Program been in operation?
The McCormick Foundation’s Communities Program has been serving communities across the United States since 1990.

Who are the Fund Partners?
The Communities Program creates special partnerships with media outlets, professional sports teams and philanthropic entities across the nation.  Our current partners include; Chicago Tribune, The Denver Post, Newsday, The Orlando Sentinel, The Sun Sentinel, The Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Blackhawks, the Chicago White Sox, the Chicago Bulls, the Colorado Rockies, the Orlando Magic, and United Way of Metropolitan Chicago.

What is the relationship between the Robert R. McCormick Foundation and Tribune Company?  
The McCormick Foundation is an independently recognized 501(c)(3) public charity, IRS registration #36-3689171.  The Foundation is a separate legal entity from the Tribune Company.  However, the McCormick Foundation and the Tribune organization do share a common legacy: the life and work of Col. Robert R. McCormick, President and Publisher of the Chicago Tribune from 1914 until his death in 1955.

How do I receive a grant from the Communities Program?
Grants are made only through our Fund Partners to qualified nonprofit organizations, with programs within their eight identified issue areas.  You can learn more about the partners and their issue areas under the Issue links ont he left navigation bar or on the partner's web page.  The grantee selection process is initiated by the Foundation and our Fund Partners and is invitation only.  The Foundation only makes grants to registered nonprofit organizations and does not give money to individuals.

How do I make a donation to the Communities Program?
The McCormick Foundation’s Communities Program accepts donations from the general public throughout the year.  Gifts can be made to any of our Fund Partners online, by phone or through the mail by visiting any of our Partners' web pages.

Why does "The McCormick Foundation" appear on my credit card statement?
All fundraising is conducated under the Robert R. McCormick Foundation tax identification #36-3689171, with gifts restricted to the chosen Fund.  The Foundation is a recognized 501(c)(3) public charity.  When making a tax deductible gift to one of the Funds of the Foundation your credit card is charged by the Foundation not the Fund.

How do I obtain an auction item, ad space or sponsorship for my upcoming event?
The Foundation does not provide these resources to nonprofits.  Please contact our partners directly with a request for an item.
