We Help Communities Become Stronger

Will you help?

Imagine a future where every child in Chicago gets a quality education, every adult has a pathway to stable employment, and every family is healthy and well-fed. With your gift, we’ll be one step closer to making that vision a reality. And during the COVID-19 pandemic, your gift means even more to families in need of assistance.

Every person who lives here deserves a chance to reach for their dreams, but many people in our region experience more than their fair share of challenges. These challenges are real, and they disproportionately affect some communities more than others. But together, we can write a different story.

When you donate to the McCormick Foundation Communities Program, you help expand opportunities for every Chicagoan, regardless of ZIP code, race, or income. We’re working together with local organizations, community leaders, and donors to help ensure every child gets a quality education, every adult has a pathway to stable employment, and every family has access to health and wellness services.

Local organizations receiving grants from the McCormick Foundation are rising to the challenge in these tough times to help their client, thanks to generous support from donors like you.

When the COVID-19 stay-at-home order was put in effect, Joseline, a project manager at Central States SER, a workforce and education organization in Little Village, stepped up her game. Joseline and her SER team thought strategically about how to maintain connections to the young people they mentored without the usual in-person interactions. She shared that many parents of their students lost their jobs and family members were dying from COVID-19. SER implemented an action plan, distributing emergency funds and care packages to families in crisis, providing hope during the initial dark weeks of the pandemic.

At Chicago Commons, a Foundation grantee agency, Veronica coordinates a program built to create and maintain educational and employment opportunities in early childhood development. She’s also connecting families experiencing food and housing insecurity to the emergency resources they needed. “Very often, Commons becomes the place families go to for trusted information, advice, and for things beyond just the program,” Veronica stated. “We remain committed to our clients and helping them endure through these tough days.”

Why give to the McCormick Foundation Communities Program?

Your donation is matched at 50 cents on the dollar, and 100% of funds raised go to local nonprofits.
We turn every $1 you donate into $1.50 and every $100 into $150. Then, we cover all expenses associated with your donation and pass along 100% of your gift — plus the 50% match — directly to local nonprofits working to solve the most pressing challenges in Chicagoland communities.

Your support helps people across Chicagoland access opportunities for good jobs, quality education, and healthy lifestyles.
We focus our grants and support on areas where some of the most significant challenges and disparities exist in Chicagoland: jobs and economic opportunity, health and wellness, and education. This focus was based on research and input from the communities we serve. By approaching them comprehensively, we’re able to address the root causes of Chicago’s most significant problems.

Your donations help Chicago communities thrive.
We believe that lasting change comes from within our communities. That’s why we look to the people who live and work in Chicagoland communities to identify their needs and priorities, and find solutions. Outcomes include everything from the creation of high-quality jobs, to improved college success and safer neighborhoods.
