Apply for a Democracy Grant

After reviewing our funding guidelines, the next step in applying for a grant from the Democracy Program is to complete an online Letter of Inquiry (LOI). Please note that all inquiries must be submitted through our online system due to the high volume of requests we receive. Full proposals are accepted on an invitation-only basis.

Please review the information below to determine the level of grant for which you would like to apply.

$50,000 and under

LOIs for new funding requests of $50,000 and under are accepted on a rolling basis between January 1 and September 30 of every year.

Please note that grantees who are interested in renewing an active grant should not complete this LOI. (Current grantees receive a link to customized application materials prior to the end of their grant period.)

If you have logged on to our application system before—whether to submit an LOI, proposal, or grant report—be sure to use your existing log-in and password. If this is your first time using the system, click the 'New Applicant' button.
