The Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund, a fund of the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, is committed to helping Chicagoans by supporting nonprofit organizations with programs that transition low-income youth, children and families to achieving self-sufficiency.

In 2009, the Chicago Blackhawks expanded its longtime commitment to Chicagoland and established the Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund with the Robert R. McCormick Foundation.

The McCormick Foundation matches all donations to the Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund at fifty cents on the dollar. With the Chicago Blackhawks and the Foundation paying all campaign and administrative expenses, one hundred percent of all donations, plus the match is granted to qualified nonprofit organizations.

All organizations undergo a thorough screening during the grant application process to ensure that only high-quality programs with proven results receive funding. Since inception, over $6.5 million in grants has been distributed through the Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund, a McCormick Foundation Fund improving the lives of those in need and transforming the community.

Focus Area

Education (primarily post-secondary education)

This giving area supports academically underperforming children and youth as they matriculate through challenging phases of the K-12 education continuum. Priority is given to established 501(c)3 agency-based programs that comprehensively address one of two key transition points: successful transition from middle to high school or successful transition from high school to college/university. Eligible programs will track GPA growth, increased school attendance and standardized test score gains.
