Spotlight: Khalia Lee

Growing up on Chicago’s West Side, Khalia has been through some tough times. Born with Spina Bifida she’s had to undergo several painful operations. She lives on the second floor of a two flat and must crawl up the stairs. With both her parents unemployed, she must depend on a local food pantry for food. Khalia Lee’s involvement in the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago’s wheelchair softball team helps her discover self-esteem and pride that comes with teamwork. Together the Foundation and the Chicago Cubs have been investing in organizations like the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago to help build a strong, healthy and bright future for Chicago.
